My Love from the Star

My Love from the Star

Alright, stay with me on this one because it is a doozy. There is an alien, right? He landed on Earth four hundred years ago. Four hundred years! This dude has been hanging around since before the invention of the fork, and he is finally, FINALLY, about to go home. His spaceship is basically idling in the driveway. His interstellar bags are packed. He has probably already sent his forwarding address to the galactic post office. He is this close to blasting off and leaving our weird little planet behind forever. And then, plot twist of all plot twists, he meets an actress.

Not just any actress. A FAMOUS actress. The kind of famous where she cannot go to the grocery store without causing a traffic jam and her face is on billboards so large they have their own weather system. And something about her makes this alien, who has spent four centuries on Earth probably thinking humans are the most exhausting species in the known universe, decide that actually, no, he does not want to leave. Forget the spaceship. Forget his home planet. Forget whatever alien family might be waiting for him with open tentacles. He would rather stay here, on this chaotic rock, with this woman.

Now, I want you to really let that sink in. This is a being who has witnessed the rise and fall of empires, who has probably seen enough human nonsense to fill a library, and one encounter with a charismatic actress and he is ready to cancel his one-way ticket to another galaxy. That is not just attraction. That is a gravitational pull stronger than the one keeping the moon in orbit. And watching it unfold is absolutely delightful because you get to see this super-powered, centuries-old being turn into an absolute mess of feelings over someone he just met. If that is not a love story for the ages, I do not know what is.
